CRISIS MODE …RECIPE BOX RE VAMP

CRISIS indeed.. I painted the darn box and it WAS nice

then I tried to paint the name on it and the stupid paint pen

RAN as the ink came out!   I got that wiped up and sprayed

over the mess and tried something else. THAT did not work

either!!   So NOW I am deciding just how to try to

get letters either stenciled on or use some kind of

stick on letters and then mod-podge over them or use a

clear acrylic spray.. (more $$$) by the time it is over..

this box will be costly.. I guess it would have been helpful if

I had some inkling of what the heck I was doing.. I am used

to ceramics and could have decoupaged it. I wish I had went that way

now. With the paint on there I don’t think it is possible to do that.

Maybe..maybe not.. It is a work in re-vamp and something I am

still pondering..

SATURDAY NOTES..

Yesterday was a blur of shopping and trying to find that

elusive recipe box. I gave up when I saw what was out there in the

stores. So, I took advice from many and decided to MAKE one.

Hmmmm the boxes available were not really what I was looking for.

I saw in MICHAELS a nice box but it was just not right.

So I kept looking and found one in the HOBBY LOBBY.

Now by the time you decide what you want on it and get

all the stuff to make it with.. It turns out to be a real

project and costs just as much as the ones that are already

available. At least it will be .from me. by me…a keepsake.

I came home put a first coat on that thing and it looks

like what I was orginally looking for. It is still in

stages of being finished. I will put up a picture when I get it

done.  I hope it will be kept for years to come..

 

Last night I fell asleep early.. but this morning I sat

and watched, on tape, one of my favs come back to weekly tv.

TOM SELLECK…WOW.. that was GREAT!  The way in which

he was added to LAS VEGAS on NBC was fun and

really changed the show. I really liked seeing him on this show

and look forward to seeing him each week. Hope it lasts for

a long time.

 

LAUGH of the day…

A lady in the department store we were in was showing us new

jewelry that had come in. The latest styles and some were like

the 70′s. When it came to ear-rings there were loops and

dangles and she said.. "I just love mine..don’t you?" and my

mother said.."Well.. Why would I buy those ugly things when

I can wear my DIAMONDS?" The gal was stopped cold in her

tracks..then we all started to laugh. Mom was right Diamonds

are better.. and they are a girl’s best friend!

FRIDAY ALREADY???

WOW Friday already?? That was my thought when I sat

down to check mail and saw it was after midnight.

Boy this week really flew by..when you are busy I guess it

will go before you know it. I went to check the flowers

today before I mowed the yard. Today a whole

different color was present and the old color was

gone.  Was so glad to see this

because it meant that more than one color would come

back next year too, if I was lucky. I read where some

varieties are stronger than others. Time will tell I guess.

Here is what I found yesterday..

  

The neighborhood is buzzing as more people are moving

back into "the hell house" next door. No problems yet, we can

always hope for the best. I wonder if we told them what

we call that place if they would have still rented there?

Next weekend is our towns first annual AMAZING

CORN festival..after last weekend’s festival I wonder

just how many will show up?. Several different things

planned including "hog calling and Hay Sculpture..

whatever that is.. If it is corn they are gonna make it,

bake it, fry it, stew it, brew it, and eat it.

 I can not wait to see what that is all about.

Two days all about CORN…hmmmm wonder if

they have ever heard of corn liquor.."white lightning"?

Let you know if I see any..You know where my trusty

kodak will be!
