I was exhausted last night and could not blog about what went
on and this is why…. The parade went off at 10 and my sister
and her manfriend went ..they came home and he decided to
go to his mother’s to check on her for awhile. As they were
leaving his house SHE SAW FLAMES!! Large ones…from
right behind his house. She called 911 and gave the address
and being Festival day.. oh boy.. they had to call every
officer they could get off the streets of town. Our
fire dept is now mostly police personnel and some
volunteers. She called me and I went right over there.
The general alarm was called because the houses and
garages and much brush was back there. She said flames
were as high as her head when she called 911. The people
next door were gone..the people behind his house were gone.
The fire was put out in about a half hour and the
firemen say they suspect arson because there was
a lot of evidence present. One whole smaller building
was lost. Fire is something that scares me so because
it can get way out of hand so quickly. By the time that
things calmed down some, it was afternoon. We left
town, as most people do, to go grocery shopping nowdays,
and tried to not think about what could have happened had
she NOT been home at the time. Too darn scary..
Off to the bridal shower today and then home to
the finish of the Nascar race.. The weather is
gorgeous and mild at least 75 to 80 and what else
could we ask for?..
HOPE YOUR DAY WILL BE GREAT !!

I just read about Pete’s death. I have been wondering why I have not seen him lately. He used to call me every so often and I know he hated the nursing home. Do you know what the cause of death was? He was pretty healthy right up to the end as he was complaining about the really bed ridden and sick people there. BTW…sorry to read about the fire.
Sorry you sister had to endure such a frightening event. Fires are so scary.
that’s one of my fears, too. I remember when I was maybe 8 or 9 me and my mom were at my Grandma’s house..and my aunt and cousin were there, too… my aunt got a phone call that her house was on fire… I remember we got in our car and raced over there.. fire trucks everywhere! the house was totalled. Good news is that some stuff was salvagable and the remodel was a whole lot nicer than the original.. and everyone got out. anyway.. I don’t know what scares me more… the house catching fire while I’m in it, or when I’m gone and I come home to a burnt shell. either way, I’d prefer it not happen. And I’m glad your sister was able to call that one in..Hope you had fun at the shower!hugs and loveKim
