TO IRON OR NOT TO IRON…..

Standard
Ever go to the closet to get just what you want to wear
and then… what???….the article has been jammed in there and
it is so wrinkly it looks terrrible! You reallly want to wear
it but you think.. well I could wear something else.. do I really
have time to drag out the ironing board and iron??
Sounds like a TV commercial doesn’t it? Well today
I saw this commercial for a clothing steamer. One that
is portable and you steam clothes with it instead of
ironing . Now If I wore dress clothes or a suit of clothes
or uniform it is supposed to help me SAVE 100′s of
dollars!  For the average JANE OR JOE.. would they benefit
though?
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU IRONED SOMETHING
TO WEAR IT SOMEPLACE???
Reason I ask is…. Most articles of clothing now-days
are wash and wear or drip dry and no need to do anything
at all. I used to iron on one day of the week at night
while I was watching TV.. all the clothes were pressed
and some even if they didn’t need to be were given a
quick once over. Sounds kinda like MARTHA huh?
Anyway.. I gave it up.mainly because I had no place to
keep the ironing board up, so I would not have to take it
up and down all the time. Ours is at least 50 years old.
A big heavy wooden one, with heavy steel legs on it.
Mom said she got it brand new and it’s the only one she has ever
had. Very sturdy and very heavy. We stopped using it and
use the kitchen table with a towel and a sheet over it when need
be. So much faster you know.. Then we started buying  clothes that
were ”easy care” wash and dry.. good to go type clothes.
The art of ironing is kind of a thing of the past I guess..some
do and some don’t..I think I would do it more if it was more
convenient for me, and not such a HOT chore.. In the summer
with the humidity.. don’t even go there! Open-mouthed
It was something I thought of today when I dragged out two
blouses to wear and both of them were a mess. Light bulb  TIME
TO CLEAN OUT THE CLOSET!!

  1. I love it. Ironing is a chore I am not into. I had a friend in college that would go around and ask to iron clothes. Where did she go??? I use a spray bottle and the steam from the shower. Pull and tug. Very few items go in for ironing!

  2. I’m not entirely sure how I found your post about ironing but this is exactly what I went through the other day when I was cleaning out my closet! LMAO glad someone else doesn’t iron. I also use the steam from the shower trick. It works. Or I throw it in the dryer for a few minutes if it is possible. Who really has time to iron.
