NEW YEAR’S EVE…

Standard
happynewyear1
For New year’s Eve each year I have fruit and cheeses,
some crackers, maybe some dips and chips and some nice
easy side dishes. maybe some little meatballs with
sweet n sour sauce or some ham slices. I usually
have some of the small crescent rolls that come in
a large container from Sam’s Club. This year.. the
rolls and the dips and chips are OUT!! I have
the ham slices but the meatballs are out too.
Had to re-vamp the whole menu so that mom
could have some too. I usually make this
One dip I loveeeee.. but is wayyyy toooo fattening
fruit_tray_dip_e
   FRUIT DIP…
1 jar of marshmallow creme.. (small jar)
1 package of creme cheese (can use low fat kind)
mix those together and use about 1/2 tsp
of nutmeg . (or add it to your taste.)
Use this with all kinds of cut up fruit.
This dip is so rich, but boy does it go fast!!
I bet I get asked “where’s the dip?” too!Wink
So I needed a change…
so this year I mixed coolwhip with
some flavored  lowfat yogurt for a dip.
It goes over okay with mom and satisfies
the tastebuds too. Mom did so well at  Christmas
that I thought DO  IT AGAIN for
NEW YEARS!
So we will set up a table in the living
room with all the plates and food and we won’t
have a lot of heavy foods just light eating.
At bedtime I light a candle and say a prayer
for the new year. I also take time to think
of all the people I know who have passed on
either in my family or not. I have done this
for years on New Year’s Eve. I always think
that it helps to make the new year go a little
better. Candle_BurningMy Dad passed away
back in 1994 on New Year’s Day. I think of
him and make a wish for everyone that we all
have a wonderful safe, happy, successful, healthy and
prosperous year ahead.
MANY BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL FOR THE
NEW YEAR 2008!!

BUSY SUNDAY..

Standard
Busy day today.. Many errands to do while the weather
is nice out. Snow is coming again and yesterday the
streets were a sheet of ice. Where there was no salt..
it was a skating rink!  You don’t want to think about
going out in it. SlippingOnIce I am guessing, but
most times the stores are really busy now just
before NEW YEAR’S EVE. I cannot plan much
because mom can’t eat much of it.. but I am trying
new things. Anything and everything sugar free
and low salt catches my eye now where it never
did before. Who would guess that there was a lot
of salt in sugar free pudding. NOT ME.
I put on a pot of beans to cook all day,
will make cornbread to go with them
and the black-eyed peas that mom insists
on eating on New Year’s Day. It is a
tradition. So I must get to the store to
make sure I have everything for the meal.

Later today I will be paying my respects at the
funeral home for a friend of the whole town.
He died in his sleep, very unexpectedly, at 65.
A business person for over 30 years in town,
he was known far and wide. I am sure glad
the weather is better so I can go.
Well the stores await me… and so I must
get going..

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY!

PS YES.. I saw the game last night and it was like
watching the Superbowl. I love a game where the score
goes back and forth like that..a very good game.
I had no doubt that the Patriots would come back
to win though. Just amazing!!

WHAT DAY IS THIS.. ???

Standard
Loosing_it-player_small
I must have heard that at least 10 times this
week. when the garbage pick up day is changed
because of a holiday.. then all heck breaks out.
When your paper stops or the mailman is a
day late, it can get very confusing. Yesterday
I was half-way out the door when I noticed
it was not Thurdsay but Friday and I need
not think about paying the bill until NEXT
WEEK. I got to the bank, but they closed early
for the "holidays".. NO service until Monday.
WHEN?? I mean I have it lucky..I see the date and time
on my computer every day and I STILL lose track
of which day it is..sheesh I guess I am just
losing it..Confused
Then the whole thing starts over next week
when places are closed again for the New Year,
the mail doesn’t come and so on and so on….

Have you seen that commercial for Brgr Kng?
The new one.. about them cancelling the whopper.
Kind of a candid camera type thing with real
people.. telling the folks they will no longer
sell them. I find that funnier than anything they
could have dreamed up. They should give the guy or
gal a bonus for dreaming that one up.. Some of
the reactions to the statement are priceless.
That one where the person states in a really mad
voice.. GET ME A WHOPPER NOW.. makes me
really laugh. Funny stuff.

Well gas is at 3.19 this week here and milk prices
are all over the place from 2.77 to 3.29. but EGGS
are very high at 2.00 a DOZEN. WHAT are the chickens
on strike too??  chicken
Seems everytime I go in the store the prices are
higher! Must have something to do with CORN..
because the way they talk on the news everything
comes back to that eventually.

WELL HOPE YOUR  "SATURDAY" GOES GREAT!!

I KNOW MINE WILL IF I KEEP SAYING IT
ENOUGH..  SAT  UR DAYYYYYY !!!  LoL Open-mouthed
