LESSONS LEARNED..

WELL my 85 year old AUNTIE told me to pull those tomato plants

out of the pots and plant them in the ground. LET the roots

spread out. SO…. I decided to do just that. The plants were

growing but not blooming. I hope they grow now and produce

at least some tomatoes before the first frost. They have all

of AUGUST unless the MOLE gets them!!

He is still in residence even though I have tried just about

everything short of traps. I refuse to buy anything else to rid the

yard of him. SO I learned my lesson

well.. if you are gonna plant tomatoes you can start them in a

smaller container but you have to transfer them to a very LARGE

one or in the ground. No one told me…novice gardener here!

When trying to get something done that requires help from the

city, go to the CITY MANAGER.. he then delegates it to someone

else. Getting a call from him or his office most times gets things

in motion a lot faster. It has worked in every case this year so

far.. EXCEPT the hornets nest. Well we can hope..

When dealing with the doctors office make sure you are actually

talking to someone who knows what the heck is going on.

ASK who you are speaking to and if they are associated with the

doctor that you GO to.. not one of 10 in the office.  Took over 10 minutes of

shuffling from one to another to get to the nurse who worked with

the doctor I see. Geeez

Still hot and humid here and NO RAIN…

Gas is sitting at 3.69!!!! AMAZING. I am wondering how long that lasts.

Milk went down some to 3.29 from 3.69 if not on sale.

Watermelons are back to 3.99 but tomatoes here are SKY HIGH

I bet we don’t see any at the roadside stands until SEPT. (No kidding!)

NEWS UPDATES

HELL HOUSE had a looker today. An actual realtor came with a

person to look the house over. What a shock, as they have not even

come near that house since it was gutted out. I made sure that the

woman KNEW about the HORNETS nest. She was shocked at the

size of it. I AM SURE she did not appreciate me telling her when

there was a potential buyer present .. but what the heck.. NO

one got back to us about if or what they intend to do about it.

They sure weren’t over there long either. Not much to see. A person

will have to do a lot of remodeling and clean up and updating

there to have it habital again.  A whole lot to consider at nearly $30,000.

YOSEMITE is still in danger.. That fire is so large now and is

burning in an odd way. Going in all directions at once.

I woud think that would be even more dangerous than most fires

are. In speaking to relatives of mine in the valley below, they

report smoke and haze on some days worse than others.

They are grateful that there is little wind to whip this fire

in to a more populated area.

QUAKE IN LA.

R U SERIOUS BOB has a great blog entry about how he faired

in the 5.4 quake in LA on Tuesday. I hope that the people there

are more on guard now that they have been re-acquainted with

the power the quakes really have.  Having rode out the SFO quake

that was in 1989 of 6.9. I know that it was a pretty good shaker.

The aftershocks are also so alarming. they keep you un easy for

hours and days waiting for another larger quake. Hope things

calm down soon.

WATCHING CLOUDS

 

Remembering when I used to be small and lay on my back

in the yard and watch the clouds go by and try to find

what pictures they made in the sky. Those were innocent times

when we didn’t have the worries that kids have today.

We could ride our bikes and be gone half of the day

and still come home for supper without a parent having

to worry about us getting kidnapped or worse. 

 

I still love to look at the way the clouds form and

the sunsets and sunrises that God paints in the sky.

A wise old woman in her 90′s once told me that

GOD’S paintings were magical and if I saw a picture in

the clouds it was good luck for me. That was years ago, and

I still believe it…somehow.. 

 

I have taken pictures since I could hold a camera steady..

My first real camera was a Kodak 110 instamatic with those cubes for

flashblulbs. Mom owned a Brownie Starflex camera and I hated to

use it as it require a lot of winding and special bulbs for flash.

Remember those??

Taking pictures of sunsets and clouds were much more fun with color film.

One of my many jobs at home is to close the  windows on

the porch at night, and sometimes I go out and just watch

the sunset and see what forms in the sky.

The most beautiful clouds I ever saw, I think, were the first time

I saw them from a 707 American Airliner flying to California

I was 15 years old. I was amazed and just awestruck over

how light and fluffy they hung in the sky and how we could

fly through and over them so easily.

The white pillows of clouds were like a giant white down comforter spread out

for miles and miles below us. It is something that you will always

remember when you first experience it. 

There are storm clouds,wall clouds and clouds that roll

and churn in the sky just before a twister comes down.

I have seen all those.. but the clouds that form that are

white and fluffy on a blue sky background, those are the most

enjoyable to me.
