SUNDAY VIEWS

HERE are some views I saw on my visit about town on

Saturday.

.

People fishing. This must have been a good spot as

there were quite a few people there.

Gorgeous fence row with iris planted beside it. This woman was

working in her yard and it was a showcase.

This was inside the fenced in yard.  NO.. I did not touch these up.

It really IS that GREEN here. It has been raining a lot and the greens

are sure brilliant.

When I saw this sky I headed for home. It really blew over fast

and we didnt get nearly as much as I thought we would.

I grabbed one last shot..

before dark.. My tomatoes are blooming!! Sis bought the plants at L**ES and they

are growing like crazy!  YAY!!

That TOPSY TURVEY thing is so heavy when it gets saturated with water… if you are thinking

about hanging it up it had better be in a sturdy place. It doesn’t even have blooms yet but

I can just imagine how heavy it will be when it has tomatoes on it.  It rained here and

boy it sure weighed it down. I think maybe a protected area not so out in the open

would be good if it still gets sunlight. I am betting we have to move it soon.

Hope to watch the last Nascar race we will get to see for awhile today.

Weather has been so crazy who knows. Last night tornadoes in IND AND OHIO.

We were lucky it all went south of us.

SPECIAL CAR..

I finally found the picture I was looking for.. MY FIRST

CAR!!  Here is the story….

 

I was back

from a year in Ca. away from family and was home to get some

wheeels! Yep I was tired of being in Ca. and not having a car. In

California you drive everywhere and  I sure needed it.

 

Used cars were a lot cheaper here in Michigan than in Ca. for sure.

My dad had lots of connections and he knew  a good car when he saw one.

Lets face it.. I knew NOTHING.. so we went looking for a car.

Dad intended for us to drive the car back to Ca. so it had to be a

good one with not a lot of miles on it. He picked a white one with

four doors. It was a CHEVY.. I immediately  DID NOT like it!

Something about it.. I could not quite figure out what it was, but I knew

it was not MINE! 

 

  

This car WAS.. a  2 door..’73 chevy chevelle malibu hardtop

and boy did she run! Dad didn’t like it. I DID!! I liked the color,

I liked the style and the hard top. It was a bear to take care

of in the Ca. sun.. but I did not care!!

We got the car and drove it all

the way to Ca. She last over a 110,000 miles and

had to be towed out of the driveway when I sold her

to a dealer. I cried!!  I admit I was so attached by then.

WHY am I talking cars?  Well we all have one we really are

or were attached to. One that holds a special place in our

hearts and or memories.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE CAR THAT HOLDS A SPECIAL PLACE

IN YOUR MEMORY??

 

We all remember our first set of wheels and how it felt to own

something that was “really ours”. What freedom!!

That old Chevy and I shared a lot together and our adventures

included a trip to Santa Barbara to see Sue.

That story is for later. Driving across the USA.. now that

was an adventure!!!   Stay TUNED!!

P.S. Gas went up to 2.75 here.. I know.. outrageous isn’t it!!   

 

 

SPECIAL PLACES

We all have them. A special place we love to visit or go to just chill out and

relax. Mine is anything water-related. When I lived in Ca. for all those years,

the place to go was Carmel or Monterey. I enjoyed Lake Tahoe area, but my

heart was always on the beach by the ocean. ANY CITY would do. When Sue

moved to Santa Barbara I was so jealous. She was RIGHT THERE on the

coast. It was easily available to her at any given time. ME.. I had to drive

hours to get to the ocean. I didn’t know how lucky driving those hours was.

When I moved back to Michigan, I still had the water, but it was not the roar

of the ocean waves. Their power is just so awesome. We have waves here

on our shores of Michigan. Sometimes they are pretty powerful too.

They just don’t compare to the PACIFIC OCEAN though.

To be able to go there when you wanted to, well that was a treat.  When someone

was going, I was always happy to join in. Carmel was a quaint town, small

and very busy in the summertime. Small it is  a great tourist attraction,located in

Monterey county along with Monterey, the city.

This is where MONTEREY-JACK cheese got it’s start.

 

I RAMBLE.  I could talk a lot about my visits there over my 20 years time.

Some of my favorite memories in that area were driving down the whole

17 mile drive where the famous golf courses is.. PEBBLE BEACH. Trying to take pictures

and not fall into the ocean!! The look on my sister’s face when she saw the ocean for the

first time in her adult life. PRICELESS!  She proceded to lay on the beach and get as

red as a lobster! Went home to Michigan from her trip, running a fever and smelling

of cream that she had slathered all over her. ME. nahhhh won’t catch me sitting

in the sun..I was a lot smarter than that!!  She under-estimated the power

of the California sun!!

What brought this place to mind was seeing the news of deep

discounts in fares and prices for just about everything under the sun in HAWAII

now. Tourism is way down there and they are doing some crazy things

to get people to come and spend time in paradise.

I think I would love to see the PACIFIC from the other side on Hawaii

since I have seen much of it from the Ca. side. Maybe one day

when I get rich and win the lottery. I can dream!!  When that day happens

I hope to make a great SPACES reunion there and we can all

explore it together.

NASTY SKIES

HOT, HUMID AND RAINY, that’s what we had Wednesday.

We had sun and wind too but mostly rain. I ran an errand

while we had a break in the rain and seemed everyone

else was going out too. The gas station was busy even

though gas had went up another 20 cents to 2.56!!!

Yes I think they are leading this up to 3.00 before

July 4th weekend for sure.

Then the rain came….talk about sheets of it..

The sky got all weird about 8 PM.. I looked out

and here are the scenes that greeted me..

not the WEST. It was like the whole sky was swirling around. When we have 80 degree

temps and a sky like that.. look out!  We did have the thunderstorms but nothing

severe, we sure were lucky.

Nothing much happening here.. In

case you didn’t know JAY LENO will have his last tonight show Friday

at 11:35 EST. Look for some surprises tonight too. ONLY FOUR people

 have hosted that show over so many years. STEVE ALLEN,.

JACK PAAR, JOHNNY CARSON and JAY LENO.. the show goes on JUNE

 1st with CONAN O’BRIEN.

Makes me wonder just how successful it will be when JAY comes back

in SEPT to do his own show at 10 PM ?
