REMEMBERING KATRINA

 

 

FOUR YEARS.. I can hardly believe it has been

that long since that tragic few days in America’s history.

 The pictures are

burned into my mind and the loss of life a property is

so great.  I say IS because so much of it still is standing

exactly like it was when the storm passed over and

the ruins came into view. Oh the Stadium where they

all went to get away from the water has been re done.

The casinos and some of the homes have been re-built,

but for so very many the whole tragedy still is present

in their minds. They are living in other parts of the

country and no where near the place that they called

“home”.  Today, four long years later, not much is

said about those people or how the area is so far

from getting back to the way it was before Katrina passed

over it.

 

 One thing I hope, came from all that loss, is the

promise that NEVER AGAIN will AMERICAN people have

to suffer and wait on HELP to come to them in any

emergency situation as that one was. May those who

were affected have some peace of mind that our

government will live up to that promise.

SATURDAY VIEW

Took this picture through the rain spotted window of beautiful

sunflowers growing alongside the road. How I wished the sun

was out so the picture would be clearer. It has been rainy here and

pretty cold for August. Predicted lows in the 40′s in the next several days.

September will come in fast and all we can do is hope for maybe

an indian summer somewhere along the way. 

Have seen no lookers at HELL HOUSE.. hope that is a good sign in

a way. I am sure the neighborhood will be in a buzz when someone

does look it over.

Gas here went up to  2.60 today while north of here it is cheaper again at

2.49. Milk went back to 2.79. Michigan grown products are featured

in the stores here, but the prices seem so much HIGHER than normal.

Growers here are struggling as well as people who are out of work.

The news stated that MIchigan was the highest in the nation at

un-employment. I sure believe it too. Word reached here that one

lucky woman got 5 out of 6 of the lotto numbers and won $250,000.

She was young and single and when she picked up her winnings, in

one lump sum, it came to $177,000. Her journey is just beginning.

Me, I would have stashed the cash, taken some and got out of town

pronto to avoid the hype and the people who would want to harm or

borrow from me.

 

WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH A LARGE CHUNK OF MONEY???

WOULD YOU INVEST IT NOW IN THIS MARKET?

 

Whatever she does she knows right now she won’t have to work the mundane

job she was working and leave that to someone else.

FRIDAY UPDATE

HELL HOUSE UPDATE…

WANNA BUY IT???  NO KIDDING!!

Over last weekend big signs went up all over the house.

Stapled on all sides. The bank has let this place sit here for

almost two years now empty. It will take a lot of money to even try

fix it up. All that MOLD and water damage still there.

The sign, I altered the phone number  here says….

THAT’S 300$ down and 300 a month..practically giving it

away. We are worried that someone will make it into

a crack house at that price. I am hoping the local college

will buy it up and TEAR IT DOWN! They like to buy up property

and get it at rock bottom prices. This is a corner property and

a large lot. We can only hope they saw the signs.

I have morning glories coming up all over my fence and

volunteers at that. Once it started raining they went crazy, I was

so surprised to see them doing so well. Guess that proves they WILL

grow just about anywhere and over and over again! It has turned

cooler, much cooler here. It is much like mid SEPT, early October

weather already. Wearing coats and sweatshirts..it just doesn’t seem

right. I miss those summer days. it went all too fast for me!

It will be a sad weekend in this nation saying goodbye to Senator Kennedy.

I cannot even remember a time when he was not in politics. He has been

so ever-present for my whole lifetime. Now that he is gone, the world waits for

another person to take the reigns and try to be as good a leader as he was.
I say TRY because it will be a hard job to fill. He was one of a KIND.

My thoughts and prayers to the whole Kennedy family.
