BUSY DAY

Had a whole lot of things planned today to do and as

usual they all got changed in a blink of the eye. Mom was

not doing too well after her treatment which meant that

I had to stay with her for most of the day. It amazes me that

things change from treatment to treatment and some days she

is just fine and others not. Anyway.. just as she got up from her

second nap in her afternoon a commotion started happening

and people began to move quickly. An alarm that was not

familiar sounded and I went to see what was going on.

 

Water was coming from the lighting fixture in the ceiling of

the hallway that had been closed to much of the patients

there. Thank Goodness it happened when it did. Mom and

I had  been down that hallway earlier looking at the deer that

had come out of the woods to find food. Any sooner and we would

have been caught and drenched!

 

( I am still posting pics from a host and not directly as I am still having

trouble..hope they are not blurry as they seem to be to me.)

The staff started moving people and changing rooms and turning off

water and calling in help. Within a few minutes the whole hallway was

closed off and you could hear the sound of the wet vac sucking up

water. Good thing it happened when it did.. remember that last week

the state inspectors were there . Boy that would not have looked good.

We counted 8 deer this time and no bucks among them. Mom loves

counting and watching to see if there are any babies among them, they

are the most active and fun to see.

It was bitterly cold here today again with below zero wind chills..

 but the sun was shining brightly. It was

just fine with me..I was glad we didn’t get all the snow they got south of us.

It promises to be warmer this next week and I sure will be glad!

DEEP FREEZE!!

BUDDY you better believe it is cold here.. We are lucky

we didn’t get the snow and ice that they got in Oklahoma.

The wind chills are bitter though,, You sure don’t want to

be out in it for long. The roads were slippery here and the

crews seem to take their sweet time. The picture above is NOT

blurry.. it really looked like that. The flag shows how hard the

wind was blowing and sometimes it was a complete white out.

Next picture is the view that mom sees from one of her windows.

Those woods are where the deer come out from almost every day.

At the end of the building the deer walk up close to the building

where people put out feed for them. I have not been around

when they come up close. I am still waiting!

 

Here is a pic I took today of some of the brick buildings in

our town. The do look old… because they are! That is the

train station in the center of the photo. Sun hadn’t come out

yet when this was taken. It did shine though and was wonderful

after all the clouds we have had lately.

This last photo is of the building where mom

is now. You can see the giant area beside the

building that goes all the way back to the

woods. Deer love to walk all over this area.

Can’t believe tomorrow is Friday.. boy this week

THERE SHE GOES…

Today the therapist decided to have mom walk more. She had not walked much in several days, so she was reluctant. She had her treatment today and was pretty weak when she got back. They let her take a nap and then brought some of the equiptment to her room for her to use. Nurses reported she did well despite the fact that she had been up most of the night before. Why she is up so much is a mystery. I think it is the time in which mom is given meds but no one else agrees with me. We will see.

She was evaluated yesterday on her mental state of mind. She has been more confused lately and the consensus is that the kidney failure has progressed more and she has lost some of her sharpness. I asked her today if it was night or daytime. She said she didn’t know. It was pretty cloudy and gray outside. I was pretty surprised at what she had said. The lights in the hallway are dimmed at nighttime, in the daytime it is quite bright there. Going from ones room to the hallway can be a surprise. Mom left the facility at 5:30 AM and returned near noon! Only one other person in the facility has that kind of schedule. It really is tiring.  Her day had already gone in her mind. I suppose with little sleep she thought it was night time… who knows really.

It was quite the accomplishment walking that distance. The therapist said he was looking for her strengths not the length of the walk etc. He never pushes her more than she can do. I suppose she may feel the soreness tomorrow we will see. Tomorrow is another day…

I truly can’t believe it all and hope this trend

is not going to stick around and advance to

more and more cities.Good grief what are thinking??

I think this is NOT really a good idea.. I mean CHILDREN

frequent these fast food restaurants and the LAST

thing they need is someone sitting near them

who is openly drinking liquor. It’s gonna be trouble.

If they offer delivery service.. just do that.. don’t subject

us all to it. SHEESH!!!  I say it is the bad idea of 2010!

Snowing here now.. hope we only get 1 inch instead of the

3-5 some places are getting. I sure don’t feel like shoveling

it. Cold winds cut to the bones. brrrrrr..
