DEALING..

OH these past weeks  I’ve been dealing with allergies and how to NOT sneeze, not blow and not wheeze because of this here critter.. her name is MEME..at least that is what the vet report said when she got (fixed) this past summer. She belongs to my sister and I am staying with her temporarily so we become house mates. I always thought the name was spelled MiMi, but no matter the spelling she comes when called.

 

 

 I found out that some of the newer medicines and pills on the market are NOT for me.

So I am back to taking the old fashion Benedryl only in liquid form so I can manage the dosage. Having asthma all my life, I pretty much stay away from what things I am allergic to and trigger attacks. Right now I don’t have that luxury, so I am dealing with new territory here. Some days are pretty good and others I am pretty fuzzy. Sis Carole is right though, when taking a close up picture of a cat or dog it is a very tricky thing..(eyes-wise) especially if you don’t have the fancy lenses etc. They have no idea what is going on except..”LET’S PLAY!”

This cat is about a year old so it is still in the exploring stage and loves to run through the house and search out things. She will be a very good watchful kitty for those critters that might find themselves in her path. I have been, and always will be a DOG person. It’s just me..the way I am, so dealing with MEME has been a real challenge.
I am taking it one day at a time and working around it. Who knows, maybe I will get used to her..or… maybe not.. We will see…

TESTING!

Some how, some way when I changed my blog’s background theme I lost the link to facebook publication. I have tried several times to enable it again and it doesn’t seem to work. Will keep working on it and add links by hand at facebook if need be.

I have also done some housekeeping here and deleted some links that are no longer valid. If your link got deleted by mistake please let me know. I have also ADDED some very important links that were missing here. When WordPress took over I lost a lot of the old links I had. So you will now see very special links that I should have added a long time ago. Sorry for my tardiness. There has been a lot going on and no time for maintenance. So I am testing this post to see if it publishes over to  facebook or not. Hopefully it will but if not, I will keep trying.

Have you all seen the sock monkey hats?? What is old is new again.. I never thought they could ever be brought back but here they are.. Guess I don’t get out much but sure gave me a laugh when I saw them. My  grandmother made those monkey for us kids probably 40 years ago. If your hat doesn’t have “flaps” now you are not IN!! Better go get one !!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

UPDATING here to let all know that mom is doing okay. She is managing her pain well and so far but her strength is not back to normal yet. She will be released from the hospital soon to go have some rehabilitation at a center in our town. We wanted her to have a nice Christmas at home this year but she just did not recover well from her recent surgery etc. The timing stinks but we have learned that every day we have is special and to be glad that we have them.

HE WAS RIGHT!!

HE wasn’t living in my house, but he WAS right. It appears that the adapter or charging part that went to my laptop WAS at fault. The wonderful Fed Ex guy delivered my package with a smile and within a minute or two I found out that the laptop battery was dead and the charger had NOT charged it at all. SO I am back in business!! He said he would call me back and check to see if that solved the problem, and sure enough he did. I  congratulated him and told him his diagnosis was right. HP service rocks!! Made my day!!

Not having the same luck with plumbers though. Made two calls and neither one has called back. Either they are really busy or the job is just too small for them..not sure. If they don’t respond by Friday I will call another one. Really getting tired of NO WASHER even though a new one stands there staring at me. Oh to be more savvy on how to do household repairs would be so nice. The fixture is so old though that it has really tightened up and it needs a professional touch, and be replaced. It’s a waiting game.

We got our first snow yesterday, but it wasn’t much. I am happy with that! There were a lot of crazy drivers out there on the freeways and there were a lot of accidents that happened. Glad we weren’t on the road with them. Things are calmer today as the roads have been busy and salted. Near the lake many cities got as high as 5 inches, it ended up being quite a mess.

Made several pans of fudge yesterday and cut them and packed them up for gifts. The sooner I get them out of sight the better. Mom wanted choc chip cookies so made those too. Put up the Christmas tree and mom helped  put on the ornaments. Made a trip to the pharmacy and had a hard hard time getting things straight there. The new owners of this pharmacy really are NOT doing a good job and I am considering moving everything to Kmart from now on. They have an auto-fill method I really like, makes it so much easier for me to deal with things. I sure have enough without having to mess with incompetence!

CATCHING UP

Stil having troubles posting but here goes..

JAN 16…

Mom’s  new private room is nice.. very nice.. Clean and shiny.. they

worked until late into the night to make it just

right for her. She hugged the administrators neck

when he came in to ask her how she liked her new room.

 

Large windows and a great view made an easy way to

see the deer that were passing in the yard next to her room.

She hadn’t seen them in weeks. That is a large easy chair with cup

holders. She puts her hands inside them to help steady her

to get into her chair. It works well for her. She has a way

to go to get better but we hope her 50 some days there

will be comfortable and happy.

JAN 17

This week seems like it lasted two weeks long. Started

when mom fell and then tried to get back to her old self.

A change in rooms brought more sleep and confidence in

herself and what she could do physically. Her diet, therapy and

attitude took a complete turn into the positive.

Now all we have to do is keep her from falling down and

hurting herself. She has made a real game out of tricking

the aides and the nurses. Keeping them from knowing she

is doing what they asked her NOT to do by herself.

Bless her heart….

She didn’t want to get the bedspread dirty so she put her feet

on the wheelchair. She managed to outwit all the aides so I brought

them all in to see what I was seeing. She wasn’t supposed to be able

to get up at all without them knowing about it. Tricky.. YES SHE IS!

She was sound asleep until we woke her. The look on her face was

priceless. All the nurses and aides say she is a favorite in there because

she tries hard to follow the rules.. at least SOME OF THEM.

JAN 21

BIG NEWS…

The place where mom is was inspected yesterday by the

state of Michigan. The surveyors posted signs everywhere

in the building. They offered a time for residents and family members

to talk to them also. Sis and I were both in the building. What an

opportunity. We didn’t have time to talk much to them..but they

heard what was on MY mind. I had plenty of GOOD things to report

as well as the fact that some nurses seem to NOT be communicating

well as they could with others. I watch them go through their

shift changes and drug counts and such but sometimes things slip

by them. I am sure in the next few days that we will hear from staff

how they think it went. Some people WILL talk in there and when you

are there as much as I AM… you do overhear them talking

among themselves. Some residents Sis has told me are alert and

they notice Everything so they will also talk to us.  Mom has had

some weird times in there and it was all revealed to me when I

learned WHY. Seems her medication was of the sedative kind and

she was a little over-tired  and was kinda loopy. Meds are

necessary some of the time and others it is (In My Opinion) not!

YEP. .had discussions on that too.

Got to be very watchful for sure. I sure do feel for those in there

who don’t have an advocate working with them to keep

and eye out for there health too.

Therapists told me yesterday they want a “home visit”

to check out what things  may have to be changed as

mom inches closer to coming home. That still has to

be scheduled. In her present state she is okay but

she has not yet had her LAST procedure in a hospital

so we will see what happens then. I have much to do

before the home visit cleaning wise since I am gone

so much lately anyway.

in residence across the hall and mom just had to go say hello..

she is getting more friendly as her stay progresses there.

The only thing she doesn’t like is when we visit we leave

and she thinks it is too soon!
