ATTIC FINDS… WHAT TO DO NEXT???

Standard
So much going through the old head today… One thing is
Why am I boxing up stuff, if I havent got room where I
might be going to keep it all?? I mean… we have no idea
now where we will end up. I know the house or place will
be so much smaller than what we have. We may just have to end
up selling a lot of the boxed up stuff too. I hate to part with some
things, but if you have to you have to.. What makes one thing
a priority over another? What is a a must keep item? Does
it have sentimental attachments to it? I would think that this
is what I am going to deal with soon. I found several items
yesterday in my work that I would part with gladly.

There are boxes and boxes of BEANIE BABIES that My
mother thought would be a good investment. They are in excellent
condition. I boxed them and stored them in a place other than the
attic.  WELL.. maybe 20 years from now they might be worth
something. .They are not worth much now..even on E BAY. The
fad might come back…it’s a matter of time I guess. The grandkids
sure enjoyed collecting them when they were all the rage.

I found a big box of RECIPE BOOKS… ARGhhh I CAN. NOT.
bear the thought of giving away my books… NO WAY!!  Now if you
don’t use them or even display and look at them, are they THAT
important???? Hmmm I will have to mull that one over…Some are so
old. I love to look at them and read what people wrote in them. YES
I collected them from sales and even private recipes too. OH MY
in the olden days people never thought twice about baking bread from
scratch almost everyday.. Some such elaborate recipes I would never even
think of making. ASPIC.. do people make ASPIC anymore?? Aspic….
savoury clear jelly prepared from a liquid stock made by simmering the
bones of beef, veal, chicken, or fish. The aspic congeals when
refrigerated by virtue
Anyway..the yellow recipe book is so worn.. I used that constantly
in my cooking in Ca. I will have to have it re-bound it is so falling
apart. Those are Ca. Grange recipes and boy were they good.. you
could find just about anything you wanted in those books.
I also found a rolling pin in that box that I brought all the way from Ca.
There are lots of items like that..that I just pause and think
WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS??? SAVE OR THROW OUT OR SELL??
I guess that is the next thing I have to deal with…more tomorrow.. wait til
you see what else I found…..

My thoughts go out today to my spacewalk family member MO
who’s father is ill with colon cancer. Please keep her whole family
in your thoughts…

JUNK…YUCK!

Standard

I am so tired…in the meantime I am still packing it up and sifting through all the JUNK!  At least I have it all boxed up neatly now..Barely room in the attic to walk in there, but it is stacked up and when the time is right, ready to move out!  WHEW!! Are you having fun watching me pack? NO.. but I am taking a break sitting here, resting my poor back.

I am using the white duct tape on everything. Labeling the boxes so that when I do need to use them again I just tear off the tape and start over. I used to write witha sharpie on the boxes. What a mess that turned out to be!

   img59/3048/atticig8.jpg

Yeow. I sure am running into a lot of JUNK!! I mean who in their right mind would save stuff from 1989 but me!!!  I also cannot stand the thought of throwing stuff away..but it has to be done. Remember those neat cardboard boxes that you have to put togetherthat are so colorful that you used for storage. We all thought.. wow they are so nice and useful.  WRONG!!  They have deteriorated and collapsed and are just totally useless now. The lids won’t fit they have completely gotten out of proportion to the box itself.

Today I picked one up and the whole bottom fell out. There was styrofoam filling in there, YUCK..now I have it all over my attic floor.  I have concluded that the plastic clear tubs that we have nowdays are far superior!!  You can stack them fulland they will just stay put! My kind of bliss!

quake.jpg

I found the newspapers I collected in 1989 when the quake hit San Francisco. What the heck ever possessed me to think they would not get brittle and waste away? I was not in SFO,.I was in the valley.. I sure felt it though. Scary for sure!

I remember I was shopping in a store and the ceiling lights began to rock back and forth and people were running and stuff was shaken off the shelves. No matter how fast you moved the floorunder you was moving too. Such a crazy feeling. I do know the minute I got outside I closed my eyes. I was so dizzy and sick feeling I had todash to my car to sit down or fall down.I had vertigo even way back then.  It was so interesting to read the papers at the time. They covered so much more than TV did.I sure am no archivist though.. the papers are really in bad shape now…… well enough for today..break time is over…..

Hope you all enjoy your day!!

Attic air kinda smells stale..don’t you think.. time for some freshener in
there!

IDOL GIVES BACK and more….

Standard

WOW. I just watched it…

I had to tape the 2 hour IDOL Gives Back special and just finished watching it. I was impressed by the way it was done and how many participated in it. I liked the idea of helping the children of other countries as well AS OUR OWN!! What a concept.. finally they have it right. I heard they made 60 million dollars!!! WOW about time!!  So many others need help but I am glad that they focused on the kids. Some of the stories and such just broke my heart. The way in which they had super-imposed ELVIS singing on stage was so neat… Very well done.

******************************************************

The neighbors around here got an eye full today.. I got a lot of weird stares.. ever hear that saying ..make do with what you have?” Well I did!! My yard was so bad with mole hills etc.. I ran my car over it!! I know it probably was bad.. I didn’t have one of those heavy yard things to make it all flat and nice.( I don’t know any one around here who has one. I am not about to rent one either. I could not push or pull it anyway.) So there I am in the large side yard.. rolling my car over the nice bumpy ground.. I must say it looks 100% better. The grass is smashed.. but I think it will survive fine. It is growing like crazy by the way.. the rain we had make it grow up an inch!!! Well it looks like it anyway. Mom still misses the windmill that was there. It does look really strange out there without it. It has a nice new home now anyway.

We will see how fast those large hills come back..hey if they do.. I can roll it again maybe.. time will tell!

**************************************************************

Gas was 2.99 here as of yesterday.. 15 minutes away it is 2.85.. there ought to be a LAW or something!!! Disgusting that you have to drive out of town to get a cheaper price. It is the same though with most everything, groceries are higher here and lower in the “bigger city”. Milk at the Gas station is cheaper than at the grocery store.. something about trying to get new customers..it seems to work…people are buying it.

Today will be nice and sunny after the fog wears off. I hope to get more done outdoors, if my arm holds out. Cannot believe that lawn mower is worse than the snowblower to operate.  I will do what I can…

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT SATURDAY!!!

DR.OZ ON OPRAH…

Standard
Well it was another day for learning things on Oprah Thursday.
Dr. Mehmet Oz was teaching  about stinky feet,
constipation,flatulence,and sweating profusely.
Audience members ask him questions.. but most of the questions
were already screened because the person was pre-taped explaining
the problem. Such ordinary questions too.. I had to wonder where
the Dr. OZ was, that taught us about very important issues
of nutrition and heart maintenance and what organs functions
are. I guess I just expected more from his visit this time.

He explained to the young lady ,who’s feet really stunk, that maybe
she might have a fungus or something.but when he examined them
nope she had none.. so he told her to brew tea bags and make tea
warm tea and soak her feet in it. HUH?? HE said that if she did
the tannin levels in the tea would make the souls of her feet more
tough and she probably would not have the problems any more.

WHO WANTS TEA STAINED FEET? YUCK!!  Will anyone
follow up and see if it worked?. It sounded like a home remedy that
anyone could google on the internet. Google,(by the way) had
58,800 sites listed for stinky feet some included vinegar and
some epsom salts and alum. Hmmm maybe he should stick to the
real issues of surgery and medicine  etc..that he knows best.

We had the first tornado warnings for 2007 tonight in Michigan.
Glad they were not in my county. I think it was just too cold here
to bother with them. There was no damage here or injuries in this
area but farther south they were spotted. This roller coaster weather
is sure confusing.. you have to have three different kinds of coats and
three different weights of clothing at the ready each day. Last night the
heat came back on again, after an absence of about three or four days.
All I can say is hurry up and get it over with!!

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A  GREAT DAY!!!
