PETUNIAS and etc…

Standard

IT is only when you spend time with your friends that you learn how

special they are to you. I spend so much time at home that an occasion

to be visited and leave and go away do… I REALLY appreciate what a

real gift they are to me. I thank them, but how to put what you feel in

words is another thing.

It was unbearably hot and humid here the past few days. I was pretty

much home bound until the weather decided to break up. About the time

it did.. the wind and rain and hail and thunder came with it. One storm

after the other. The weatherman described the map like a Christmas tree

lit up with warnings and lightening and numerous pockets of storms with

heavy rain. Not the kind of thing you like to get out in..BUT we did. We

ventured out and about and when the sun came out we saw the steam rise from

the pavement like fog on a cold morning. I never saw a rainbow, but I bet there

was one someplace. The yards truly needed it. I felt bad about TAHOE and

all those people who lost their beautiful homes there. They need rain so badly

in all the western states.

This morning the wind was cool and breezy and you could actually open up

the house and let it breathe. FRESH air and not recycled from an air

conditioner. How great is that?

While I was gone in my haze of friendship… Paris got out of jail..Liz Claiborne

died, they have thousands of tubes of toothpaste being found in the US to be

tainted, England got a new Prime Minister, Tahoe went up in blazes and the

people of Texas and Oklahoma are being flooded out more and more everyday

with heavy rains. AND so it goes on and on and on….

Petunias are one of my mothers favorites. She planted them at the back of our

house every single summer for years and years. The borders were with pink and

white and red mostly. Now the border and the area is nothing but rock and trim.

Upkeep got to be too much for us. . I did get the seed packets of the

morning glories and planned on planting them  until……. I misplaced the darn

package and have to track it down… Isn’t that they way things are?  I will

keep looking though. I still have some time left.

HAVE A GREAT DAY !!

NAME CHANGE????

Standard
There is a question going around the facebook MSN group
asking..IF YOU LIKED THE NAME YOU WERE GIVEN
or WOULD YOU CHANGE THE NAME YOU HAVE NOW?

I thought it was interesting as to how some people come by the
name that they are given. Some are family names, some are
after a friend or relative. My mom named all three of her
kids after names in the BIBLE.. HUH?? Is the name CAROL
in the BIBLE??I don’t know? My brother was DAVID.. and my sister MARY..
My mother said I was named after the CHRISTMAS CAROL..
HAH! I was born in JULY!!
That is not a person..anyway.. I was almost GEORGIA ANN
after my paternal grandmother. Mom thought it too long so she
shortened it to suit her.
I have been called everything under the sun though..Carlos, Carla,
Carly, Carolanna…,you name it.. I changed my nickname
myself back in the 80’s to Caroldee and that is what everyone knows
me by. My close friends call me CAT, or Dee or Carol and my
sister calls me Sissy sometimes. So I am now used to it.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE YOURS WOULD YOU??
Do you think it would change how you feel about yourself??

It is hot hot and muggggggy here and  I
hope it breaks soon. I had a hard time last night breathing it
even in the A/C. Asthma is a tricky thing. Seems nights when the
air is heaviest is bad for me.

Where you are I hope it is nice and cool and comfortable.

HAVE A GREAT TUESDAY!!!

7/07/07

Standard
There are not many days that are really lucky. I mean that
mean a lot of luck or seem to be. So many people are looking
forward this year to 7/7/07. Many are getting married on that
day, lots of people are planning big events. The last time I celebrated
that day was in 7/7/77! People did not make a lot out of it, or if they
did I didn’t think so.. all I knew was it was my birthday. I was back
from a year in Ca. away from family and was home to get some
wheeels! Yep I was tired of being in Ca. and not having a car. In
Ca. you drive everywhere and boy I sure needed it.
Used cars were a lot cheaper here in Michigan than in Ca. for sure.
My dad had lots of connections and he knew one when he saw one.
Lets face it.. I knew NOTHING.. so we went looking for a car.
Dad intended for us to drive the car back to Ca. so it had to be a
good one with not a lot of miles on it. He picked a white one with
four doors. It was a CHEVY.. I immediately  DID NOT like it!
Something about it.. I could not quite figure what it was.but I knew
it was not MINE!

This car WAS.. a  2 door..’73 chevy chevelle malibu hardtop
and boy did she run! Dad didn’t like it. I DID!! I liked the color,
I liked the style and the hard top. It was a bear to take care
of in the Ca. sun.. but I did not care!!
We got the car and drove it all
the way to Ca. She last over a 110,000 miles and
had to be towed out of the driveway when I sold her
to a dealer. I cried!! I admit I was so attached by then.
WHY am I talking cars? Well I got the car on 7/7/77.
Hmmmm NO I am not planning on a car for 7/7/07..
but if anyone wants to send em one I will take it!
By the way..that original birth certificate that my mother
found..when I went to make the copy of it.. I noticed ..I
weighed in at …..7 pounds even!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!
Talk about 7’s!!

Hope you have great plans for 7/7/07 this year.. I know I sure
do.. it includes CAKE!!

SUNDAY THOUGHTS

PANSIES!!!
I love all the colors of pansies. I love how they bloom a long time.
I love how they don’t bother my allergies.
I love anything pansies and have stationery, clothing, glassware,
pottery, candles and assorted things with pansies on them.
The name PANSY  is
from the French word pensée, meaning thought or remembrance.
The pansy is a delicate looking flower often with a "face."
The pansy is quite durable and a "flower for all seasons."
Pansies are growing in gardens during the winter in the South
or Southwest and during the summer in the North. The fragrant
and edible blooms are desirable in gardens. Pansy popularity
increases possible due to its ease of growing. Whether grown
from seed or bedding plants, pansies are relatively disease
and pest free blooming prolifically for the gardener’s enjoyment.
They came from England, and came to the U.S. sometime in the
1880’s. I am sure glad they did.. I love planting beds of them and
seeing all the different colors they bring to the garden.

Yesterday, in line at the store, I heard two older women talking
about which person they think is really classy. Style and sophistication
One said..she thought Clark Gable was classy..the other said yes, but
added Douglas Fairbanks! How many people even know who those
men are or have seen them or their work?
Got me to thinking who the heck has style and class nowdays?
WHAT IS CLASS anyway??.. I mean is it money, prestige or power, popularity,
beauty, education?. WHO had it? I used to think that the one who really
had class in Hollywood was Grace Kelly..She left the hollywood life and
married who she loved and lived a wonderful life until it was taken from her tragically.
Audrey Hepburn had class, You never saw here drunk at hollywood parties.
She used her celeb status for good and joined UNICEF and did some good in
the world. She had taste in everything she wore. Always looked "put together"
at all times. Times changed and now all people in the public eye or not have a
different take on CLASS. They don’t even know how to be classy.

Is it classy to own a lot of property and then give millions to charity?
Is it classy to use your status for betterment of society?
Class and style should not be defined by how much you own, but by
how you live your life and treat those around you as you would want to be
treated… in my  humble opinion..
The dictionary defines CLASS in so many different ways..the one I refer to
is.." a refined quality of gracefulness and good taste "…Good Taste…hmmm
WHO would qualify for that these days?…Graceful..refined…is this a
more feminine way or could a male be graceful and refined? I believe that
both could have these qualities. Fred Astaire was a graceful dancer and very
refined..what male nowdays would be? I think about it and know
that they are out there..but the world doesn’t dwell on them as much as the
most popular and rich..wild and crazy ones.
I guess as the world changes so does the definition of "classy" maybe.
Nowdays..I know of very few… young, rich or popular celebs who could
be known as a classy person.
Peter Jennings was a CLASSY guy!!! Yes.. he really was. I miss him still.
He continued to work even though he was ill and dying with cancer and
the world trusted his reporting to be accurate and informative. He
left a lasting impression on the entire country with the job that he
did. For women.. welll let’s see.. Lauren Bacall… Jacquelin Smith,Helen
Mirren, Gena Rowlands,Kathleen Turner, Barbara Walters, OPRAH..
All over 40 or 50 yrs old. I will have to rack my brain for younger
people who I think have class and style..
WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITES??

HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY !!

WHAT’S GOING ON??

Standard

AS for the neighbors.. They have a new air conditioner. You know when you have one of those you HAVE to keep the windows closed and the doors! THANK YOU GOD!! It will be scorching hereby Monday and Tuesday and I have seen at least three  A/C go in the windows since Wednesday around the neighborhood. I am hoping the noisy ones keep it INDOORS from now on!  Well one can dream I guess! We only have the month of July and then they will be gone.Today was a very busy day full of errands and details. The new invites for the wedding were not exactly what my neice wanted sooo back they go to the store in exchange for something else. ONE more trip!!  Visitingbridal shops is interesting. The types and what some carry is surprising.

Some are so formal and only have the wedding attire and some have just everything all lumped in together.Thing is… you have to see for yourself sooo you have to visit them all.

Visited an office today and got so frustrated over the fact that the directions to the place were NOT SPECIFIC and that once there..they had not given me enough info and everything I needed. I passed the place 4 or 5 times and did not even know it. The building was not labeled with any sign that told it’s title!   Grrr

Why can’t people just speak up and tell you what they want and not make it so hard on others. Sheesh! I was so glad it was cooler today. No way I could have raced around town doing all that stuff in the heat I hear is coming.

In the errand I had to do, I needed my birth certificate.. (NO I AM NOT GETTING MARRIED ) anyway.. DO YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHERE YOURS IS?? I used to, and then I sold my beautiful desk that I had had since being a teen. Well I hunted high and low for it. I even made a trip to the bank and no deal.. I was so disgusted!

I lived in Ca. 20 years and ALWAYS knew right where it was!!  Mom yells to me..”Will this do?” SHE had found the original certificate. It was huge.. at least 8×11 and I prepared to make a copy. She says to me.. NOW you have that.. you will find your duplicate copy.YOU KNOW.. I ..DID just that. I went to put some stuff away and there it was.. Stuck to the back of another paper..I made several copies of it and going to put them in a safe place. Both the original and the duplicate are going to the bank safety deposit on Monday.

Trucker BOB is still in the YUKON on his adventure of a lifetime. Rv’ing his way to ALASKA. He says the temps there range from 47 to 120..what a hard thing to deal with. Stop by his blog and check out the pictures and the stories they are very interesting to read. His link is posted here.

                 HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
