Rain and storms blew through here last night and so
this machine has been unplugged for safety sake.
Quite the lightning display and now the winds are fierce
and COLD. We will be lucky to have 60’s for highs this week.
I guess OCTOBER will come in like the time of year it
really is. Days are short and seem to be over in the blink
of an eye. Never enough hours to get things done. Can
you say NOT READY.. yes I sure can.
Gas went down here over the weekend to 2.39 and today I heard,
on the news, that crude oil is down so heating oil will be lower this
winter than last year. BEST NEWS that we could get when so many
are struggling. Sunday I made a trip to the TSC.. (that is the
Tractor Supply Company) here in town. They had a one day sale
on infrared electric furnace heaters similar to those you see
on tv. The ones that heat the whole room and never get hot
to the touch. I bought one because our old house is so drafty with
13 foot ceilings, and mom is so cold already I fear for what
is to come this winter. I have to say .. YES IT WORKS!!
In no time at all the whole large room was very warm and
OUR FURNACE IS NOT ON! Talk about savings!! I know with
this unit our gas bills will be a lot less this winter. EXACTLY
what I was hoping for. The next challenge will be when it
gets below freezing and snowing to see how it does.
Will let you know. IF the store near you advertises they
are selling them there.. go see about them and listen and
ask questions for yourself. ALL I can say is  IT WORKS!!
The man said they had sold 70 the day before and nearly that
yesterday here in town. They brought in a whole truck load from
the factory. I told the manager of the store that this was a great
help to people who are struggling and thanked him for getting
them to come. Smile
Watched one of my fav shows last night Desperate Housewives.
They sure had some shockers.  Left my comments about
that at the group site though. Glad the new season has started now on tv,
I was so tired of re-runs on every single show. The new FLASHFOWARD
looks good too on ABC. This show is a real thinker.. leaves you wondering
after you watch it.
I feel like the mad hatter today.. I’m Late.. I’m late.. got tons to do
and got off to a late start..

  1. We are having the usual crazy weather that marks the change of the seasons finally. The fluctuations from day to day or even in a single day can have fifty degrees between them…it’s a big forty-one here now but tomorrow the eighties are predicted…I hate the huge change day to day. My dad is always experiementing with ways to keep the cost of heating and cooling the house down though nothing really good seems to pan out. His way of dealing with the heat is not use airconditioning and the cold…well, keep the thermostat down and freeze…not very good solutions if you ask me. It’s cold enough here during the bitter months of winter where I use a heating pad for my feet yet my hands are still cold in spite of wearing sweats…no, I don’t miss that much. Our gas sits at about twenty cents or more higher then you though we’ve got three refineries…go figure. Have a great day my friend.

  2. Sounds wonderful. We’re here in the South so we won’t really need a heater… we put a fire in the fire place and that works good enough. I know, though, that this infared heater will be a blessing for many in the north who’s wallet is a little tighter than it has been in years past.Go have fun, see you tomorrow!

  3. The heater sounds like a very good idea. I am with your mom in that I am cold all of the time in the winter.Cold here today and I have turned the oven on to bake something, I don’t know what. Desperate Housewives was not what I expected.

  4. My brother has one of those. I thought about it but… I have normal ceiling heights and too, I would want heat from it elsewhere in the house..not just one room. Probably would not work in my small home 🙂

  5. My hubby just bought one yesterday so will let you know how it goes. This old house is cold in the winter even after we had new siding put on.

  6. I am so not ready for cold weather. We got the wind today and some rain. but if the cold weather will get rid of my allergies I will be happy!!! Feel like a whimp again today. I so want to get outside and do my fall decorating and can’t seem to muster up the strength to do it. This infection has taken the winds out of my sails AGAIN!!!! Ok, will quit complaining and so glad you got your heater and hope it keeps you and your mom toasty. Hugs, Patsy

  7. Always wondered about those heaters. Hope it works well for you—would love to give up the wood stove here, but can’t afford NOT to use it this winter, what with the pile of wood we have out here. It sure doesn’t do my allergies any good though. Just hope we get lots of rain this year. Stay healthy and enjoy the new TV season—say, when is 24 going to be on again???
