NOW picture this.. you are on the major freeway and
it’s raining. It’s raining so much your windshield wipers are
going pretty good. Cars are passing you like crazy, because you
are the more cautious driver.  Smile So.. next you see cars
stomping on their brakes in the passing lane. Up ahead you
see a big semi with a hauler carrying flattened cars piled
high. The driver of said semi is hitting the rumble strips
on the right hand side of the lane and then coming back
into the lane. Our car slows down too.. wayyy down.Thinking
Semi driver is playing this back and forth thing.. weaving
onto the strips and back into the lane. Up ahead 3 ( THREE)
State troopers are working a traffic sting (IN THE RAIN! )
Drivers are pulling into the left lane away from the trooper.
(That’s our state law) BIG semi.. well he is moving into the passing
lane and staying there as he is supposed to. As soon as he passes
the troopers he is at it again. Weaving back and forth. Now you
wonder if anyone is going to contact the troopers about this
Semi driver? Should we call them?  Thinking WE speed past the semi.
All of the sudden we see lights coming behind us and sure
enough a trooper is on his tail. Sis yells because she
has to slow down and no where to go.  I see the exit up
ahead and tell her to TAKE IT.. She does and just in time.
The Semi is now making tracks for the side of the road
where we were traveling. All the while it is raining
harder. We get to the top of the off ramp and just sit there.
No one is bothering us so we watch.
ALL Heck is breaking loose down below us, near the bridge.
Semi has pulled over finally and his LOAD shifted as well.
Here he sits.. all those crushed cars teetering, looking like
they are gonna crash any minute. We watch the trooper
start waving cars to move to the far side of the passing lane
to miss the semi. Pretty soon the two other trooper cars show
up and they stop the flow of traffic going by the semi. Traffic starts up
the off ramp where we are sitting. Sis pulls off the road and we sit in a
parking lot watching the events. WHY??? Why not just go
on your way? We knew the traffic was going to get bad, so we
didn’t stay for long there watching. We took an alternate route
to our appt. Guess I will have to watch the papers and the news
to see if that driver got arrested or what. We took the back
road home you can be sure of that. I hate freeway driving
even more in the fall and in bad weather. I shudder
to even think about what would have happened to that load
if it had collapsed onto cars on the freeway. The way the
guy was driving.. anything is possible. Confused HE may have been
aware of the shifting and trying to avoid traffic but why not
just stop and or GET OFF the freeway and call for help?
Who knows. I know I am just glad we got out of that situation.
NOPE .. didn’t take pictures or I would have.. raining too hard Sad
We made the appt with Mom’s dr. He was very very pleased with
her progress. She doesn’t have to go back for 4 months.. unless the
blood tests that were taken tell otherwise. He did reccomend the
swine flu shot for her because her health is in a "compromised
condtion."  He said ANYONE that has under-lying medical
conditions such as heart, lung, kidney, etc should get the shot.
It is no more than getting a regular flu shot and all the
hospital workers will be getting their soon as they come in.
HOPE YOU HAVE MANY MANY MORE!!  PartyBirthday cake

  1. Your day in traffic sounds like something out of that movie "Final Destination" but I’m sure glad nothing happened like the things in that movie…yikes! I’m so glad to hear that there was a good report from the doctor for you mom, that’s always good to hear. My mom got the flu shot but not the swine flu one that’s around now. Bless you, the weekend is almost upon us once again, can you believe it?

  2. I hate to be on the interstate behind a semi with a driver acting crazy. I had one actually force me off the road as he was speeding past me a few months ago.Happy birthday to Anita.

  3. WOW… what excitement… sounds like one of those State Troopers was paying attention when he drove by and noted hi erratic behavior… or another driver called the police. All that excitement… what fun..Glad to hear that your Mom is doing good… that’s really excellent news, especially after that bought with Pneumonia! Have a great day!

  4. Glad you didn’t get tangled up in that freeway mess! I know when we had our first real storm earlier this week, there were thousands of accidents on the road—people going TOO fast mostly. So good that your Mom is doing that well. Hope you all stay warm and healthy this winter! Ooooh, this is a Survivor night!

  5. That is scary as heck Sis! Thank goodness your good judgment prevailed again. A load moving on a 18 wheeler is about the scariest thing there is for anyone else on the road. The guy had to be aware of what he was doing, which was "Playing" with his fellow motorists. I am so grateful the State Police got him.

  6. Some semi drivers think they own the road because they’re bigger. Have actually been run into a guard rail by one once. That is quite a story I may blog about one day. Glad you escaped that mess. Glad to hear mom is doing so well.

  7. Oh my gosh, good description I felt like I was there. I wonder what the heck the driver was up to? Keep us posted! Good news regarding your mom! Some days it’s just by our teeth we get where we’re supposed to. I have an hours drive to get my son to his Dr appt. in the rain!! You can bet I’ll be taking my time!
