HERE’S HOPING YOU ALL WILL HAVE A HAPPY, HEALTHY, AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!!
UPDATING here to let all know that mom is doing okay. She is managing her pain well and so far but her strength is not back to normal yet. She will be released from the hospital soon to go have some rehabilitation at a center in our town. We wanted her to have a nice Christmas at home this year but she just did not recover well from her recent surgery etc. The timing stinks but we have learned that every day we have is special and to be glad that we have them.
HERE’S HOPING YOU ALL HAVE A SAFE AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Mom is doing well today.. resting okay with many drugs in her. Trying to manage her pain is hard because she has more than one issue going on. Sudden onset of neck pain Thursday did not help. Surgeon said it was not caused by the small clots they found in her neck veins. So.. we wait until further testing to find out what is going on. She came through her surgery fine and we think she will heal well from it. She is alert and ate well and is anxious to get home. We spent 13 hours in the hospital yesterday waiting because of delays in surgery. Some families were still in the waiting room at 9 PM last night waiting for the surgery to end. It truly was a mad house in there. On top of that.. we have a storm watch for the whole state and boy it sounds terrible. I have packed a bag and filled the car with all the stuff we will need in case we have to stay over night there at the hospital if we get stuck there.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND PRAYERS!
There used to be a show on TV called Hillstreet Blues.. and the watch commander of each shift would tell his officers” let’s be careful out there people”. What the heck makes people so crazy that they think they can just do as usual on the roads when they are so slippery? Today a trip we took, that usually takes about 15 minutes, took over an hour. I have mentioned before that I usually take the back roads, but today we had our first measurable snow and those roads were pretty slippery, so I opted for the freeway. WRONG decision AGAIN. We hadn’t gotten 1/4 of a mile and traffic stopped completely. We passed so many cars in the ditches we stopped counting. Sitting there, we wondered how long it would take before we could get the one mile to the nearest off ramp. We counted five ambulances and 4 wreckers, two large trucks, and one fuel truck. The fuel truck was very lucky that the car that swiped it didn’t turn it over. There really wasn’t all that much snow. Snow plows or salt trucks had not been over the roads because they were not that bad. Just crazy people driving WAY too fast for conditions and all the rest of us careful drivers had to be put in harms way because of it. So.. how long did it take to get the one mile to the off ramp………….. about 40 minutes!! We got to the very slippery side roads and went slow all the way to our appointment for which we were about 45 minutes late. It is a wonder that we didn’t have to re-schedule the whole thing. So that is my Wednesday rant for this week.. why people can’t stop and use their brains and drive better is just a real mystery to me. Hope your day went better for you than ours did. Going out again tomorrow, you can bet I am really really taking the back road this time around…. at the very least you get there on time!
It’s a busy time here this week. We have appointments and have to make the most of our time at home. I have been busy baking cookies to give away and making batches of fudge and peppermint bark that BethMarie suggested. It was simple and easy to make. Got my errands finished only to find that my gas tank was down 1/4 and gas had went up 20 cents in a matter of hours. I could not believe the sign when it read $3.05. The local news at noon yesterday said to fill up fast because it would be rising. Never gave a real reason other than the holidays.
We haven’t gotten much snow so far, only a trace here and that is fine by me. I hear that we could be in for more by the weekend. That news I hated to hear because I will be on the road a lot over the weekend if mom’s scheduled surgery goes as planned. We have been so lucky, as so many across the U.S. have had a hard time with heavy snowfall totals.
HELL HOUSE next door looks like it might get some dressing up for the holidays. Saw the neighbor lady removing some things and cleaning up her porch. If that happens you know I will get a photo of that because it will be the first time in over 10 years! So nice to have a real family living there and appreciating the property. No stinky skunks have been seen in the area since they moved into that house. All the empty places that those critter were staying have been closed up. Very grateful for that!
Not much else going on here. Does anyone know if we are all posting photos of our trees this year or not?
That tradition at WLSpaces was a nice one, would be nice to have that one carry over to our new blog homes.
STAY WELL AND WARM OUT THERE.. and HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!!
