Not sure what this flowering bush is, but the fence loves it. They cause havoc on my allergies but lovely to look at. THE DOVES ARE BACK

Took this back in 2009 of a stone fence between a walkway in a local park. Have no idea how long it took them to make it. Sturdy, you better believe it. Really nice to walk by. More Friday Fences found  HERE

Well it is still white here in Michigan..many parts of the state woke up to amounts of 1 to 3 inches this morning. Spring is hours away, but for us it might be late April or May before it actually shows up. I saw this scene a few days ago and thought to myself in several months we will wish it was cold again.

DSCN8556      We will wish for the brisk cool air when the humidity is stifling.  DSCN8569 Things go from winter to summer quick here and sometimes SPRING is pretty short. So far I haven’t seen any sign of  these flowers yet…guess I will have to wait until April sometime for these to resurface.. Last year everything was in full bloom by Easter. DSCN6877 No such luck this year. DSCN4070 Oh what a difference a year makes.    HAVE A WONDERFUL SPRING DAY!!

There is a commercial for Pepsi that is all over the internet. It is very funny..and looks entirely REAL. Some are stating that is was not a real video but a made up one.Not the real Jeff Gordon driving the car. Whether made up or not, it is very entertaining. Is the purpose of a commercial to sell the product? the purpose to entertain while selling the product?.. YES.. I think this commercial does both very well.  What do you think??  It’s worth watching and seeing for yourself. The reaction of the salesman is priceless and if faked he really deserves credit for being an excellent actor.

SO how do you fix your St. Patrick’s day meal.???
Is it a long
drawn out ordeal of brinning the meat or boiling or baking the meat. SPICED OR NOT SPICED?  I used to like the spiced meat..but have gotten used to the un-spiced now.  I was shocked to hear from a neighbor that she no longer makes her dinners that she made for 50 years, because the meat is too tough for them to eat..That was so sad to hear. I told her that there are so many ways to fix the dinner. She could not believe that someone boiled the meat. She never had made it that way.
She was baking the meat in the oven and that made it really tough to chew…My mother was  born in the south and her mother always boiled the meat and made a boiled dinner out of it.42-16023650 - Corned Beef with Cabbage, Leeks, and CarrotsThat meat falls apart and loses some of the salt in the water and by adding the cabbage and potatoes it loses more salt…. or does it??  THIS IS THE QUESTION…Does it really lose the salt or is it still there? I say it is there… but not as bad as if the whole thing were baked, with some glaze on it.Whatever you make for your holiday meal..I am sure it will be yummy!!
Here is my recipe for what our local store calls IRISH FLUFF, but there are other names for it too. This is a really sweet dessert you might like to try..

1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
1 (3 ounce) package instant pistachio pudding mix
1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1/2 (10.5 ounce) package miniature marshmallows
In a large bowl, combine the pineapple and dry pistachio pudding mix. Fold in thawed whipped topping and marshmallows until well mixed. Refrigerate until chilled and serve.

Yesterday I went to our nearest Goodwill store.  I haven’t been in there in a couple of months. I like to browse the dishware and such and see what others have donated. I got out of the car and this is what I saw.. DSCN8506 a beautiful display of cards worthy of a Hallmark store just inside the doorway. Brand new displays very clean and organized and labeled. DSCN8503 I wondered where I was at for a moment.

The farther I walked in the more surprised I got DSCN8502 Two aisles were brand new merchandise like found in a dollar store, not donated items. Money to be made here. They moved all the clothing to the back and side of the store in order for all these new items to be placed. As I wandered around I found more and more NEW items for sale. WHAT?? Where were the donated items we are used to seeing? I was pretty shocked. The sign outside said “GOODWILL” but what I saw inside sure didn’t look like it.  So at least 45-50 percent of the store was now new items. DSCN8507 What items were people mostly looking at? The USED items and the clothing..NOT the cards and NEW things for sale. There is a dollar store only steps away for those items. DSCN8501   I will say their displays are nice but really, do we have to have so many new things?? DSCN85051

I am one who doesn’t like changes much at all, but in my opinion these new changes might just lose them some business in the long run. People now have very limited incomes and they have to make the money count. If this is a new trend..sorry I sure don’t care for it. Wondering how other towns stores are now and if they all will end up this way?
