IT’S OVER….

Standard

The election is over and AGAIN..despite the popular vote in our country the candidate who won the electoral votes was the winner. The people of America have spoken. Many of us are in a shocked state today. We wonder what is going to happen next?

If you think about it.. where else in the world could a person with NO political background at all win a race to become the President of the most powerful country in the world? I just hope and PRAY he surrounds himself with very knowledgeable people who can guide him through this new administration. Time to step it up and answer to all the promises that he made. I hope dissention  in this country will die down and we can all work to bring the country together. In the meantime I hope you join me and pray for UNITY in our country.

IN THE NEWS

Standard
I barely got to see news yesterday as we were out most of
the day. I catch up mostly on line and such. When I
got on line this morning the pictures and video I saw
struck me like lightning, WOW this is what is really
happening in AMERICA right now. It is sad that the
President and Congress cannot see how BAD the
situation is becoming. When people stand in 90 degree
heat for hours for a piece of paper that might or might
NOT get them a chance at a cheaper way to live…it’s sad.
It reminded me of the crowds after Katrina.. everyone standing
calling for help.  The link will take you to several reports
about what happened. This is also going on in Michigan today.
THOUSANDS lined up over night to stand waiting for that
sheet of paper..an application.. to help them find housing
that they can afford. HOW many other cities is this happening
today? There are bound to be cities that DON’T make it into
the news. Things are bad.. people are desperate.  I guess
and this is the only way they can try to get help.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
KNOW that was a bummer.. so here is something lighter..
and truly amazing..a
10 year old sang recently on AMERICA’S GOT TALENT and
it was breath taking… click the link and see for yourself!! I tell
you I sat there with my mouth open in amazement!! It was the
same feeling I had when Susan Boyle sang for the first time.
I had chills listening to her. I hope her career will boom now
as America has seen this rare talent.

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

EARTH DAY!!

Standard

THINGS I HAVE DONE THIS PAST YEAR TO SAVE THE EARTH!

Changed lightbulbs in all the lights.  Driven less and at a
slower speed. Use Sha**W*W instead of paper towels.
Use bucket water instead of hose for cleaning car and
birdbath, and watering tomatoes. Re -use plastic grocery bags
and use canvas bags for carrying things.
Take cans and glass to re-cycle bins.

It’s a slow start but at least it is something. If we all did
      O N E
thing what a better world this EARTH would be.

HAVE A GREAT GREEN EARTH DAY!

… NOW WHAT???

Standard
dollar
GOt this in my e-mail today… It sums things
up pretty good. I heard on the news that the senate signed
or passed the bail out bill.. and out loud I said
"NOW WHAT??"
Well on to the HOUSE of Representatives and they
have to okay it too. OKAY.. so will they or won’t they?
It is a big lesson for all people to watch how they
work on things and what things work and don’t work.
Kids should be following this whole thing in the schools
closely. I doubt they would understand any better than
I do though. Confused
Makes you wonder just what the heck is next,  what it will
mean for JOE PUBLIC. and his family and the small business
people in this country who are in so much trouble right now.
We wait and see I guess.. Looks like the winter will be a long one!

THE HORNETS ARE GONE!!
Checked the nest and since Monday there is no activity there,
they must have left because of the cold. 40 last night here.
I noticed the hole in the end of the nest was larger
and today it was huge.
nest
I guess if you have over 800 per nest you need a
larger way for them all to exit. I was sure glad I
was not outside when they left. GOOD RIDDANCE!
I will make some calls and see if anyone is interested
in retrieving the nest for study.

Saw the end of the AMERICA’S GOT TALENT show..
so the opera singer salesman,Neal Boyd, won the whole show,
but the results were so close it wasn’t funny. I really
liked ELI who played piano and sang similar to ELTON
JOHN.. I am sure they both will make a lot of money  the
rest of their lives.
##############################################################
Cleaned and cleaned today all the heat registers and pipes, closed
some storm windows and replaced our glass front door. Getting
ready for the colder temps….BUT…. waiting to see if by doing all this
IT  WILL GET  WARMER  !!  SOMETIMES IT DOES!  Wink
It will be a long winter starting the furnace so soon in the fall.
NOT good $$$$$$$$$$!!

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY..
and   DON’T FORGET THE DEBATE
9pmEST all networks!!  Smile   I can’t wait!!

BUSY BUSY..

Standard
Today will be a busy one with trips out of town

and many appts. I will appreciate all your good thoughts
and prayers today for Mom. She is pretty shaky when it
comes to testing of any kind these days. Makes more out of
things than they really are. The unknown is a powerful thing
to a person her age.  THANKS!!Smile

Saw the speech by PRES.Bill Clinton tonght. WOW!!
I thought Hillary was good.. but oh that EX Pres. has a lot
of charisma and experience. He had that crowd right where
he wanted them to be. I pitied Joe Biden having to go up there
and make a speech right behind him.. His speech was done
nicely too, but did not nearly get the crowd going like Pres. Clinton
did. I did love the way Clinton said that "he too was considered in
experienced." He didn’t have to finish that sentence.. everyone knew
where it was going.. Large crowds for tomorrow.. I sure am glad I am
not secret service personnel. What a nightmare trying to keep control
of  75,000 people in that stadium.. Wish them luck.’
Mom reminded me tonight that years ago when we sat and watched
Kennedy on a black and white TV during the convention. That was all
that was broadcast on all channels. ALL NIGHT LONG. you had
no real choice. The speeches went on and on and the tally from
the roll call did too. WE would sit and wait for Michigan and then turn
in for bed. I think I will miss the closing night in the convention hall,
all those balloons and noise makers. Wonder what exciting fireworks
are planned for the closing night ceremonies??? I will tune in and see.

GUSTAV is headed right for the gulf coast states… My prayers are
already going up for those who live in the path of it. May they all stay
safe from harm. HOPE YOU ALL…

OLYMPIC CEREMONIES

Standard
SEVERAL WORDS COME TO MIND..
AWE INSPIRING, CREATIVE, COLORFUL,MAJESTIC
UNIQUE, UN MATCHED, BRILLIANT, MEMORABLE,
BREATHTAKING……………………..
100_8994
I could go on and on.. If you missed the ceremonies,
you really missed something for the ages. I doubt I
will ever see anything like it again in my lifetime.
I mean it!!
How can any country compete with BILLIONS
of Dolllars  to put on ceremonies like the ones
shown in China??  I don’t think it is possible.
The sheer amount of people contained inside
the stadium involved in this spectacular show
(over 2000 men and women) and their dedication and
skill to pull off something unique…it just left you
in wonder and in in awe of their abilities.
100_8996 Using wires this
man hung above the stadium and walked-ran all around
it until coming to the torch to light it. It was amazing
100_8997
Nothing prepares you for the new age of technology
being added to the opening ceremony. LARGE
visual affects surrounding the entire stadium
and also on the floor of the stadium. STUNNING!
Add the chinese traditions and grandure..
It was something I am so glad I was able to
witness.
AS for the games themselves I doubt I will be
watching many of them.. but the opening I am so
glad I stayed up and watched and was amazed by.

Today will be cool and we could have some rain in
varied places. I am grateful that it has cooled off
and we have low humidity again.

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

EIGHT /EIGHT/ OH / EIGHT

Standard
Beijing-Olympic-2008
The Olympics are going on over in China this year and
the Chinese consider 8/8/08 a very lucky number. Last year
7/7/07 was considered lucky to us. I sure hope the U.S.A.
team has the best luck and brings home many gold medals!
I love the opening ceremonies. that is after the long walk into
the stadium is almost over. Boy that takes a long time! Smile
The elaborate costumes and show they put on.. wow it is
a one of a kind show in most years I have witnessed.  I love how they
keep the secret of who will carry the torch and light the
big cauldron of fire or torch to signify it’s start.
The year they used Mohamed Ali I just shook it was so exciting.
I can only imagine how it was for all the competitors.
With a 12 hour time delay most of us will probably hear who won
before we even see it on tv. They try to keep it quiet and do all
they can but most times someone lets the word out on another
news or sports show. MSN homepage is already set and ready
to let us know immediately what the results are…is nothing
secret any more?? Open-mouthed

Can’t say I will be watching all the sports as there will be so
many but I will be watching to see those gold medal pile up.
GO USA!!!
Do you know what the ring colors mean? I had to look it up
because I forgot.. yeah.. old brain cells here.. they don’t retain as
good as they used to. According to WIKIPEDIA..
"The emblem chosen to illustrate and represent the world Congress of 1914
five intertwined rings in different colours – blue, yellow, black, green, red –
are placed on the white field of the paper. These five rings represent
the five parts of the world which now are won over to Olympism and
willing to accept healthy competition. "
 OKay.. so that is it!!
I sure feel sorry for those who have to compete in that smog though. YEech!
Who can be their best breathing all that stuff? I don’t blame any of the
atheletes from any country for using a mask. The air there is seriously
dangerous. I don’t see how the people over their live healthy lives. If
the reported "HALF" of the pollution is gone I would hate to see the
days and nights there with the WHOLE content. Sick Those poor
people!  Happy today to be breathing cooler, clear, Michigan air!!

Hope you all have a great day!!
