Our family have anxiously awaited the birth of this little bundle of joy. She is a doll and reports are she has blue eyes. Neither parent has blue eyes but her grandmother and great grandmother both have, had them.
LILY MARIE was born on MAY 8th at 7:55 AM…she weighed 7lbs and 2 oz. She was born on my late mother’s birthday and that made several of us very happy. Mom would have been thrilled to have another girl in the family.
Big Brother Theo (almost 6) first time meeting his new sister. .”wow, are we taking her home?”He wanted to hold her right away but they told him he would have to wait. I think he will be a great big brother.
Hope this holiday season finds you and yours safe and healthy this year. So many things have happened this year. It is hard to believe how our world is changing so. We can only hope for a better 2017!!
This is my little tree this year. I decided to try something coastal. I love the shells and used some clips to put more on the tree. I must say it looks totally different from any other tree I have ever had. I must put more lights on it as you can hardly see the ones that are on it. If I get it the way I want it finally I may just keep it up for the whole winter. This winter so far has been mild so I have not really been in the “mood” so much for the holidays. We are due for a storm soon so that will totally change I guess. Baking and making treats may also get me in the mood. I am going to try some new recipes and see how they turn out. This is the only time of the year when I just don’t deprive myself too much. Christmas only happens once a year so go for it I say!! No matter what my two favorites I still have to have are my favorite sugar cookies and Rachael Ray Fudge.
NEVER,,since starting to blog in 2005, have I skipped a month. It must be senility setting in. As I turn 65 this year I see some changes are disrupting my blogging routine. I start a draft and never return to finish it off. I also am so bogged down with Soc Sec paperwork and forms it is taking a lot of my last nerve to deal with it all. HOW do people do this I kept saying over and over?Things are BROWN here in the mitten state, seems each storm that came through here skipped us completely. I think a ban on fireworks is going to happen the fields and yards are so dry. The gardeners came anyway and it smelled like mowed hay! Sad that so many are suffering with floods we sure could use some of that water.
Since school got out the kids are learning to ride bikes again and play in the water around here. One of our tenants got a new puppy and it is learning its boundaries. These kids are using the shade of the trees to work on crafting. Not sure what it was they were making though.Hope whatever your plans are for the summer you have fun doing them. Looks like it will be a HOT one here. ( ME..you will find me in with the AC and sipping my ice tea.)
Boy this month went fast around here. I just made it back here to enter something before the month ends. Sad it has come to not posting like I used to. Life is kind of boring right now. Not much happening around here.
Snow cream..only made it once this year.
We had snow, rain, hail, wind, sun, just about everything in April. Must admit I liked the cooler or colder weather with all the trees blooming in between. It has really helped with the allergies. When the sun came out you can feel the intensity of it. I know that summer will come and when it does we all will be complaining about the heat.
Now the trees are blooming and things are coming back to life. I am really enjoying it. The neighbors are working hard on weeding and putting up birdhouses and feeding the birds. April is almost gone.
WELL here it is MARCH already, it came in like a lion snow and freezing rain. For the first time in YEARS I skipped a whole month with no posts here! Shocking for me for sure. I guess I posted on my other blog plenty though, that might just make up for it. We have had a very mild winter here in my neck of the woods. LOVE It.. Never remember it snowing 12 inches back in the old days and then two days later all melted to NOTHING. The kids around here have had a lot of snow days and love being outside in the driving snow. Ahh for youthful times when you loved playing in it.
I do wonder what is in store for Spring and Summer here too. Will it be ungodly hot and long? Guess we will just have to wait and see. We have seen a whole lot of GREEN this winter. This was before the snow fell again.. only days ago..
What happened here in February was a very sudden loss in our little complex. A lady who had moved in my building less than 6 months suddenly died of a massive heart attack. She was only 56, a lot younger than me. Sure makes a person think about life and loss and what things you still want to do. I got to thinking I had no “Bucket List” made of things left undone. I am working on it as of this writing.
Over the winter months I have read a lot of books. I found our local Goodwill store had books of all kinds at 4/1.00. I got a lot of reading time in. I came across several books by former presidents and first ladies. They have proven to be very informative about what it takes to be PRESIDENT of this country. In this election year it has helped me see that it takes a special knowledge and ability to do the very hard job of running our country. I will just say that it really opened my eyes to WHO was running for president and what abilities they have. Times are changing and we have to change with them, we wait and see how things work out. NOW we just have to
ONE whole year since I moved into my place. How hot and steamy I recall that week. The smell of the fresh enamel, and new carpet. It was a joyful time. Wondering how I would furnish this new place, gathering things one by one, it became HOME. I have redone the cabinets and the closets at least twice. I am still finding lost items since 2011. It was a thrill to know I still HAD some of them. I got on a nautical theme while shopping for a painting to go on my pure white walls. It changed everything..I loved the sea so I brought it inside with me. I was reading a Fung Shui book which told me that shells were very good and brought good luck so I placed them everywhere and made my place more beach friendly.I got candles and arranged displays and it all came together nicely. I never dreamed that within that year I would deal with two more managers, a flooded bathroom and bedroom, a broken window, and having to replace the garbage disposal. Birds who refused to give up nesting under the siding beside my patio and dive bombing me every time I stepped outside. The maintenance man Aaron started calling me “troublemaker” after his third visit to stop the birds from nesting. Seemed no one else was having as many problems as me. The lady who lived in my apt stayed here for 25 years, and she rarely let anyone keep things going so lots had to be redone. Good for me I got all new things, bad for Aaron. And then there were 2 very unusual earthquakes. It blows my mind. We never have those in Michigan but now we do. Walls and cabinets rattling it reminded me of my years in California. Yes, life here is full of changes and change is good, it keeps me on my toes. Today the manager called and I get my new window tomorrow. It has been two and a half months since this whole thing started. Now I have to deal with all that duct tape I put on it to keep my air conditioner in the window. Well at least that is an easy fix. Wondering what is next…guess I will wait and see.
